HPV Awareness Week - October 1 -5

Did you know?
It is estimated that 75% of sexually active Canadians will have at least one HPV infection during their lifetime.

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is family of viruses that can cause cervical cancer, mouth cancer, anal cancer, vaginal cancer, penile cancer, and genital warts.

The HPV vaccine prevents infection by 9 strains of HPV virus, including the types most responsible for cervical cancer.

The Public Health Agency of Canada recommends this vaccine as part of routine vaccinations. Please see their HPV Prevention and Vaccine Q&A page for more information:
The vaccine is usually recommended for males under 27, and for females under 46. Your physician may still recommend this vaccine if you are above these ages.
We will be having a Gardasil vaccine clinic during National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week, Oct 15-19, 2018. If you would like to be vaccinated or speak to a nurse for more information, please call to book an appointment or come in on Tuesday Oct 16 1:00-4:00 pm, or Wed Oct 17 08:30-11:30 am.

The HPV vaccine Gardasil 9 is administered in 3 doses over 6 months.  Many drugs plans will pay for this immunization.  Check with your plan using this DIN: #02437058.  The cost at this clinic is $165 per dose.

If you aren’t able to come during this time, but would like to be vaccinated, please call the clinic at 613-256-9370 during regular office hours to arrange an appointment.
